If you are traveling to Chile you cannot miss the chance to visit some of the most incredible wine valleys in the world. Chile is the house of some of the best and here we bring you 2 of them, the Elqui and Limari valleys.
Elqui Valley
The first of the wine valleys we bring to you is Elqui valley. While you’re visiting the beautiful country of Chile, make sure to take a visit to the Elqui Valley vineyards. These vineyards in Chile’s north region produce grapes for the local brandy, Pisco. You’ll see how the vines change from green to yellow as the seasons change. The valley’s snow-capped mountains frame the vineyards in spring, and as you move through the warmer months, the colors get increasingly vibrant. In June and July, the rainy season brings an abundance of color and flavor to these vines.
Elqui Valley is known for its aromatic wines. It is surrounded by mountain ranges that rise to 1,000 meters. Also, the climate characteristics of Elqui Valley make for great conditions for grapes and vines. The Elqui Valley is home to several grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Syrah. This amazing valley is also home to some of Chile’s finest observatories.
Limari Valley
The second of the wine valleys we present to you here is Limari valley. Limestone-rich soil of Limari Valley is an excellent choice for producing Pinot Noir. The region is one of the most productive in the world, producing the highest-quality wine. The climate is generally dry, with an average annual rainfall of 90mm. Although this region is a hot spot for Pinot Noir, it is also a good choice for Syrah. Limari region’s high elevation and favorable climate make it an ideal place to grow the grape.
Limari has a moderate climate, ideal for growing a range of grapes, including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. The region is home to some of Chile’s largest wineries. The region’s climate also contributes to the production of Chile’s best-known wine varieties, such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. While Chardonnay is the most widely-planted grape in Chile, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are also popular in the region.
The climate of the Limari Valley is slightly warmer and drier than that of the Itata Valley. The vineyards here are characterized by extensive plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon. However, the region is also home to several other white grapes, including Viognier, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling. These wines are the foundation of Chile’s effort to prove that it is capable of producing more than just red wine.
